By now, you’ve probably realized your friends at RK Motors Charlotte enjoy finding killer first generation Camaros. The faster, the scarier, the more unique: THE BETTER! Over the past three years, we’ve brought you some of the coolest, most potent and flat-out nasty resto-mods in the muscle car scene. And, based on the countless times we’ve watched these cars roll through our showroom, you guys enjoy them just as much as we do. Then again, how could anyone not love a stylish classic that can outrun, out shine and pretty much out class machines that are half its age and twice its price? Combining vintage style with modern technology, this slick Camaro coupe, with its smooth LS2 V8, stout driveline and hand-picked amenities, was built for the enthusiast who wants the absolute best. If you’ve been languishing at your desk debating a purchase while your favorite F-bodies cycle through our inventory, here’s a quick chance at redemption!

Completing an intricate transformation from solid Detroit steel to lean, mean Chevrolet dream machine, this stylish F1 displays bodywork that’s nothing short of excellent! The car’s ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration started with an original Camaro body that appears to have never seen major rust or significant damage. Once that shell was thoroughly prepped, each of its panels was carefully aligned to uniform consistency. And when that professionally-tailored profile was close to perfect, DuPont black was accented with a red stinger stripe and sealed under mirror-like clear. The end result is one seriously lethal cruiser that has major street presence and great curb appeal!

Zoom in on the details and this custom continues to impress. At the front of its body, a monochromatic Rally Sport grille hangs a bright “SS” emblem above clean parking lamps and a new chrome bumper. Behind that grille, a pinned and “LS2” branded Stinger hood leads the eye to fresh glass that’s framed in straight stainless trim. At the sides of that glass, classy chrome mirrors and traditional GM door handles combine with new rocker trim to add just the right amount of flash to the car’s clean profile. And at the back of that profile, a billet fuel cap and ’67 Camaro-exclusive taillights split the difference between a D80 spoiler, a second chrome bumper and Rally Sport reverse lamps.

In keeping with unspoken tradition, this Chevy proudly displays small “Fuel Injection” emblems on its fenders to warn would be challengers of its top option powerplant. Lift the car’s lightweight fiberglass hood and you’ll find the forerunner to virtually all the technology still featured in Chevrolet sports cars: GM’s potent LS2 small block. The rowdy mill utilizes 364 cubic inches to twist buff 10.9 to 1 compression into an even 400 horsepower and 400 lb./ft. of torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering, low-end performance, it revs to 6,500 RPM and can drive like a commuter car! Up top, GM’s familiar intake and contoured fuel rail covers feature appropriate “CAMARO LS2” branding. Up front, there’s a beefy radiator that’s fitted with a massive Flex-A-Lite Syclone puller fan. To the left, a conical, reusable filter element feeds a clean, stainless-trimmed air tube. To the right, a chrome-capped Optima battery makes sure the fires get lit, even in the worst elements. Aesthetically, the engine bay looks fantastic with the aluminum mill and textured core support accented by Satin Black fenders and chrome brace bars. And one twist of the key zings the powerplant to life, pulsing rhythmic notes through high quality Hedman Husler headers.

Take a gander under this slick F-Body and you’ll find a fully detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. Solid floorpans wear a clean coat of traditional Satin Black and, save for hours of buffing, are every bit as nice as the car’s first rate exterior. At the center of those floors, a proven Tremec 5-speed makes good use of a tough hydraulic clutch. Nail the gas and a 10-bolt, Perfect Launch-branded rear end spins a tough posi-traction differential around 4.11 gears. Stopping is a cinch thanks to two power-assisted Wilwood calipers, two power-assisted GM calipers and four drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by a series of 2.5-inch pipes, which swirl spent gases through a Hedman crossover and polished Magnaflow mufflers. At the front of the car, modern power steering complements Hotchkis coil springs, KYB Gas-a-Just shocks and a beefy Hotchkis sway bar. At the back of the car, a factory-style suspension mixes high quality subframe connectors with Hotchkis leaf springs and two more KYB Gas-a-Just shocks. And torque melts the pavement thanks to polished Rushforth wheels, which spin 245/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 redlines in front of 285/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 redlines.

Behind the car’s solid-closing doors you’ll find a Standard Camaro interior that wraps a simple, distraction-free driving experience in acres of classic flash. At the front of the cockpit, a thoughtfully modified dash hangs Dakota Digital VHX telemetry beside Vintage Air climate control and a Kenwood CD player. Below that dash, a two-tone console frames a sweet TKO shifter. Below that console, high quality carpet rides between Dynamat insulation and color-keyed, “Camaro” branded floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, Standard door panels twist chrome handles in front of chrome-trimmed arm rests. In front of the driver, a leather-wrapped Concept To Reality steering wheel spins around a modern, tilting column. Behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered trunk features a small fire extinguisher. And everything jolts to action via snazzy remote start.

The sale of this lustworthy panther includes a small stack of component manuals.

In summary, this awesome Camaro represents creative engineering at its very finest, combining stunning design with reliable, high-level performance. Put it on a pedestal and stare at it… Take it to the local cruise in… Register it for the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour… Whatever you elect to do with this cool coupe, it’s sure to be the centerpiece of your collection, the focal point of your garage, and, most importantly, the car you most look forward to driving and being seen in!
